Traveling valve
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003912
A valve in a sucker rod pump that moves with the plunger. It closes on the upstroke so that the plunger lifts the fluid above it toward the surface, and it opens on the downstroke so that fluid in the barrel passes through the plunger to the space above. It works with the standing valve, which sits at the bottom of the barrel and stays fixed.
