Fluid level

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001506

The depth from the surface to the top of the liquid column in the casing-tubing annulus of a pumping well. It is a primary diagnostic measurement for artificial lift systems, indicating whether the pump is set at the correct depth and operating efficiently. An acoustic well sounder, or echo meter, is the standard instrument used to measure the fluid level by timing a sound wave's reflection off the liquid surface.
