Friction reducer
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001589
A chemical additive, typically a long-chain polymer, introduced into a fluid to reduce the frictional pressure losses during turbulent flow. This allows for higher pumping rates or lower pumping pressures in operations such as hydraulic fracturing or pipeline transport. It minimizes the energy required to move fluids through tubulars.
