Subsurface pressure
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003676
The fluid pressure at any point below the ground surface, including within the wellbore or the surrounding reservoir formation. It is a function of the hydrostatic head of the fluid column above, friction losses during flow, and the inherent formation pressure. Subsurface pressure is measured directly using downhole gauges during well tests or calculated from surface measurements and fluid properties.
