Galvanic anodes
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001603
Sacrificial metal blocks, such as zinc or magnesium, that protect steel structures from corrosion by providing a more electrochemically active material. These anodes corrode preferentially, diverting the corrosive current away from the protected metal. They are often used in offshore platforms and pipelines where impressed current systems are impractical or uneconomical.
