GGT
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001698
The abbreviation for the Garrett Gas Train, a portable apparatus that measures soluble sulfide and carbonate in drilling fluid or filtrate. A sample is acidified in a transparent multi-chamber train, and the liberated hydrogen sulfide or carbon dioxide is carried by a gas stream through a colour-change detector tube. The tube reading is converted to sulfide in mg/L, which makes the GGT the routine check for sulfide intrusion and scavenger demand.
