Sulfide scavenger

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003686

A chemical additive that removes hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and other sulfide species from drilling fluids, completion fluids, or produced hydrocarbons. These scavengers react with sulfides to form stable, non-toxic, and non-corrosive compounds, mitigating safety hazards and preventing corrosion of tubulars and equipment. Zinc-based compounds, such as zinc carbonate or zinc oxide, are frequently used scavengers that precipitate zinc sulfide as a solid.
