Gravity override
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001739
The tendency of an injected fluid, such as gas or water, to move preferentially through the upper or lower portions of a reservoir due to density differences. Gas, being lighter, tends to override the oil, while water, being denser, tends to underride. This phenomenon can lead to poor sweep efficiency and premature breakthrough of the injected fluid.
