Vertical sweep efficiency
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004038
The fraction of the reservoir's vertical cross-section that is contacted by the injected fluid during a displacement process. It measures how uniformly the injected fluid spreads across the thickness of the pay zone. Poor vertical sweep can result from gravity override, viscous fingering, or permeability stratification, leading to bypassed oil.
