Humble formula

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001877

An empirical equation that relates formation factor to porosity in clean, water-bearing sandstones. It provides an alternative to the Archie formula for calculating the formation resistivity factor (F), which is a key input for water saturation calculations. The formula is expressed as F = 0.62 / φ^2.15, where F is the formation factor and φ is the fractional porosity, with constants derived from measurements on a large set of sandstone cores.
