Humic acid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001878
A complex organic compound formed from the decomposition of plant and animal matter, used as a deflocculant and fluid loss control agent in water-based drilling fluids. It functions by coating clay particles, reducing their tendency to aggregate and minimizing water invasion into formations. Humic acid is typically derived from leonardite or lignite.
