Lignin
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002161
A complex polymer found in the cell walls of plants, used as a deflocculant and fluid-loss control agent in drilling muds. It is often chemically modified to enhance its performance in high-temperature and high-salinity environments. Lignin derivatives are particularly effective in dispersing clay particles and maintaining stable mud properties.
