Lignosulfonate
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002163
A chemical compound derived from lignin, widely used as a deflocculant and dispersant in water-based drilling fluids. It reduces the viscosity and gel strength of muds, preventing flocculation of clay particles. Lignosulfonates are effective across a broad range of temperatures and are available in different metal salt forms, such as calcium or chrome lignosulfonate.
