Natural fracture
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002506
A pre-existing break or discontinuity in a rock formation that formed due to tectonic stresses or other geological processes. These fractures can significantly influence fluid flow paths and reservoir permeability in unconventional reservoirs. Their orientation and density are measured through core analysis, image logs, and seismic data.
