Natural frequency

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002507

The frequency at which a system oscillates when disturbed from its equilibrium position and then allowed to vibrate freely without any external driving force. In geophysics, this concept applies to seismic sensors, where the natural frequency of a geophone determines its optimal operating range. It is a key parameter in the design and selection of seismic acquisition equipment.
