Retrograde condensation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003146
A phenomenon occurring in gas condensate reservoirs where, as pressure decreases below the dew point isotherm during production, liquid hydrocarbons condense out of the gas phase in the reservoir. This liquid, known as retrograde condensate, can become trapped in the pore spaces, reducing gas permeability and overall recovery. It is a characteristic of rich gas condensate systems.
