SBR
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003264
A synthetic latex, Styrene-Butadiene Rubber, used as a fluid-loss control additive in water-based drilling fluids and cement slurries. The polymer particles deform and coalesce on the formation face to create a thin, flexible, and impermeable film that reduces filtrate invasion. SBR is particularly effective in high-temperature wells and for sealing microfractures in depleted or unstable zones.
