Sulfonated polystyrene-maleic anhydride copolymer

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004461

A synthetic polymer additive used in water-based drilling fluids to control fluid loss and improve rheological properties. This copolymer is particularly effective in high-temperature and high-salinity environments, where other fluid loss additives may degrade. It works by forming a thin, low-permeability filter cake on the wellbore, minimizing filtrate invasion into the formation.
