Statics
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003597
The time delays in seismic data caused by variations in elevation and the low-velocity weathered layer near the Earth's surface. These delays distort the arrival times of seismic reflections, making it difficult to interpret subsurface structures accurately. Correcting for statics is a fundamental step in seismic data processing.
