TAME
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003757
An ether, tert-Amyl Methyl Ether, used as a component in reformulated gasoline to increase octane and reduce emissions. It is produced by reacting isoamylene with methanol and has blending properties similar to other oxygenates like MTBE. TAME has a lower vapor pressure and water solubility than MTBE, making it a slightly less problematic groundwater contaminant.
