Upward continuation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004489
A mathematical technique used in potential field geophysics to calculate the magnetic or gravity field that would be observed at a higher elevation, given measurements at a lower level. This process effectively smooths the data and attenuates high-frequency anomalies caused by shallow sources. It is often applied to remove the effects of near-surface geology or to regionalize anomalies.
