Water-wet
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004116
Describing a reservoir rock where water preferentially adheres to the surface of the rock grains, forming a film that separates the oil or gas from the solid matrix. In a water-wet system, water occupies the smaller pores and coats the grain surfaces, while hydrocarbons reside in the larger pores. This wettability characteristic significantly influences fluid flow and oil recovery efficiency.
