Weathering
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004126
The in-situ physical disintegration and chemical decomposition of rocks and minerals at or near the Earth's surface due to exposure to atmospheric and biological agents. This process breaks down rocks into smaller fragments and alters their mineral composition. Weathering contributes to the formation of sedimentary rocks and can create secondary porosity in reservoir rocks.
