Defect
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000085
An anomaly or imperfection on a wafer surface or within its layers that can cause a circuit to fail. Defects include particles, scratches, pattern imperfections, or crystalline flaws in the silicon substrate. Automated wafer inspection systems classify defects by type, size, and location, creating a map for further analysis or for correlating with electrical test failures.
