Brightfield

Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000042

An optical inspection technique where a semiconductor wafer is illuminated from above, and defects are detected by the light they scatter or absorb against a bright background. This method is effective for identifying surface particles, scratches, and pattern defects. Brightfield inspection is a common technique in semiconductor manufacturing for general defect detection.
