Dynamic random-access memory
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000102
A type of volatile semiconductor memory, or DRAM, that represents each bit of data using a distinct capacitor and transistor pair within an integrated circuit. Because the capacitor leaks charge, the information eventually fades unless the capacitor charge is periodically refreshed. This refresh requirement distinguishes DRAM from static random-access memory (SRAM), which does not need to be refreshed.
