Anaphylatoxin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000567
A peptide fragment, such as C3a, C4a, or C5a, generated during complement activation that induces inflammatory responses. These fragments bind to specific receptors on mast cells and basophils, causing degranulation and the release of histamine and other mediators. They also act as chemoattractants for phagocytic cells.
