Archibald's method
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000766
A technique for determining the weight-average molar mass of macromolecules in solution using an analytical ultracentrifuge. It involves measuring the concentration gradient of the solute near the meniscus and the bottom of the centrifuge cell during the approach to sedimentation equilibrium. This method does not require the system to reach a final steady state, which reduces experimental time, as the calculation relies on the zero-flux condition at the solution boundaries.
