Beam footprint
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001165
The area on a sample surface that is illuminated or irradiated by an incident beam of radiation or particles during an analytical measurement. This area defines the spatial extent from which analytical information is collected. Its size and shape depend on the beam's characteristics and the angle of incidence.
