Beam spill-off

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001167

The portion of the incident X-ray beam that misses the specimen in X-ray reflectometry, because at small grazing angles the beam footprint is longer than the sample. The missed part does not interact with the sample and has to be corrected for when the reflectivity is calculated.
