Bioaccumulation factor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001237
A ratio that quantifies the extent to which a chemical accumulates in an organism relative to its concentration in the surrounding environment. It is calculated as the concentration of the chemical in the organism divided by its concentration in the external medium, such as water or soil. A high bioaccumulation factor indicates a strong tendency for the chemical to accumulate in living tissues.
