Biomagnification factor

A quantitative measure of the increase in concentration of a substance in an organism relative to its concentration in its diet. It is calculated as the ratio of the concentration of a chemical in an organism to its concentration in the organism's food. A factor greater than one indicates biomagnification within the food web.
