Blotting

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001396

A molecular biology technique used to transfer separated macromolecules, such as DNA, RNA, or proteins, from a gel matrix onto a solid support membrane for subsequent detection. This process allows for the immobilization of molecules, making them accessible for hybridization with probes or antibody binding. Common blotting methods include Southern, Northern, and Western blotting.
