Bubble column

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001522

A type of reactor consisting of a vertical cylindrical vessel in which gas is sparged into a liquid phase, creating bubbles that rise through the liquid. This design provides intimate contact between the gas and liquid, facilitating mass transfer and chemical reactions. Bubble columns are widely used in chemical, biochemical, and environmental engineering for processes like gas absorption and fermentation.
