Carcinoembryonic antigen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001663
A glycoprotein found on the surface of certain cancer cells and in fetal gut tissue, serving as a tumor marker. Elevated levels in the blood can indicate the presence of certain cancers, particularly colorectal cancer, and are used for monitoring treatment response and recurrence. It is not specific enough for cancer screening in the general population.
