Cardiolipin
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001672
A unique phospholipid with four acyl chains and two phosphate groups, primarily found in the inner mitochondrial membrane. This lipid is involved in maintaining mitochondrial structure and function, including electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation. Its presence is nearly exclusive to mitochondria and certain bacterial membranes.
