Conformational enthalpy
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002416
The change in enthalpy associated with a transition between different conformational states of a polymer chain. This energy difference arises from changes in intramolecular interactions, such as bond rotation and non-bonded forces, as the polymer backbone adopts a new spatial arrangement. The value is determined experimentally using techniques like calorimetry or spectroscopy and is expressed in units of energy per mole, such as kilojoules per mole (kJ/mol).
