Constitutive enzymes
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002474
Enzymes that are synthesized by an organism at a relatively constant level, irrespective of the metabolic state or environmental conditions. The genes encoding these enzymes are expressed continuously, without being subject to induction or repression by specific substrates or other molecules. This contrasts with inducible enzymes, which are produced only when a specific inducing substance is present in the cell's environment.
