Correlation spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002603

A homonuclear two-dimensional NMR experiment, abbreviated COSY, in which a cross peak appears at the shift coordinates of two nuclei whenever they are linked by spin-spin coupling, usually across two or three bonds. The diagonal carries the ordinary one-dimensional spectrum and the off-diagonal peaks map which protons are coupled. In contrast to NOESY, whose cross peaks come from through-space proximity, COSY peaks come from through-bond coupling.
