Cross-sectioning

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002733

A sample preparation technique in surface analysis where a material is cut perpendicular to its surface to expose internal layers or interfaces. This method allows for the examination of subsurface features and the distribution of elements or phases within the material. The exposed surface is then analyzed using techniques like scanning electron microscopy or energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy.
