Sub-shell photoionization cross section
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011521
A measure of the probability that a photon of a given energy will eject an electron from a specific atomic sub-shell. This cross section is dependent on the photon energy and the electronic configuration of the atom. It is a fundamental parameter in X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for quantifying elemental composition.
