Crystalline-polymer molecular complex
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002762
A crystalline molecular complex formed between two different polymers that pack together in one lattice, rather than between a polymer and a small guest. The best characterized case pairs isotactic poly(methyl methacrylate) with the syndiotactic polymer, and the two chains form a double helix. The poly(L-lactide) and poly(D-lactide) stereocomplex melts about 50 degrees Celsius above either homopolymer.
