Homopolymer isomorphism

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005383

The co-crystallization of two different homopolymers, whose repeating units are not the same, into one mixed crystal in which their units statistically share the same lattice positions. It needs repeating units of very similar size and shape, and very few polymer pairs qualify, one reported pair being poly(vinyl fluoride) and poly(vinylidene fluoride). It differs from copolymer isomorphism, where the different units sit on the same chains.
