Vinyl polymer
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012578
A polymer made from a monomer that carries the vinyl group CH2=CH-, so each repeat in its chain has the form -CHR-CH2- with R an alkyl, aryl, halogen or other substituent. Polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene and poly(vinyl chloride) are examples, while 1,1-disubstituted monomers of the type CH2=CRR' give vinylidene polymers instead.
