Macromolecular isomorphism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006875
The phenomenon where two or more different macromolecules can crystallize together in the same crystal lattice, forming a mixed crystal. This occurs when the constitutional repeating units of the different macromolecules are similar enough in size and shape to substitute for each other without significantly distorting the crystal structure. It is observed in certain copolymer systems.
