Macromolecular prodrug
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006876
A prodrug where the active drug molecule is covalently attached to a polymer carrier, designed to improve its pharmacokinetic properties or targeting. The polymer acts as a delivery system, often enhancing solubility, reducing toxicity, or prolonging circulation time. The active drug is released from the polymer in vivo.
