Densification

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002999

A process that increases the density of a material by reducing its porosity. This can involve the removal of solvent or other volatile components, or the rearrangement of particles to achieve a more compact structure. In sol-gel processing, densification transforms a porous xerogel into a denser, non-porous material, often through heat treatment.
