Disjoining pressure

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013044

A force per unit area acting perpendicular to the surfaces of a thin liquid film, arising from intermolecular interactions across the film. This pressure can be either attractive or repulsive, influencing the stability and thickness of films, such as those found in foams and emulsions. It is a key concept in colloid and interface science.
