Electron detachment
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003718
The process by which an electron is removed from a negatively charged ion or a neutral species, resulting in the formation of a less negatively charged or positively charged species. This process requires energy input, often in the form of photons or collisions. The energy required for electron detachment from an anion is known as the electron affinity.
