Extravasation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004307
The movement of cells, particularly leukocytes, or fluids from the interior of a blood or lymphatic vessel into the surrounding tissue. This process is a normal part of inflammation, allowing immune cells to reach sites of injury or infection. In a pathological context, it can also describe the leakage of administered drugs, such as chemotherapeutic agents, from a vein into subcutaneous tissues, causing damage.
